exim not finding Ip of server sending mail

I'm using one box (nelly.mydomain.com) to generate emails and sending them using a cpanel box which host the mailserver for mydomain

i have the Ip address for the source server in alwaysrelay setup but exim cant seem to find the IP for the originating server and I'm getting a bunch of

no IP address found for host nelly.mydomain.com (during SMTP connection from (server34) [xx.xx.xx.xx])

messages in the exim_mainlog

I can ping the nelly.mydomain.com box from other servers but not the one with the mailserver on it

both machines have records using zonedit and they appear to be propagated fine.
