Default exim (packageeximisnotinstalled) after cpanel update

    Hi,

I have tried searching for the same problem on this forum and cannot find it, hence I am posting for help. I apologise if its somewhere, and I have not been able to locate it.

After every UPCP, my EXIM will break, as in uninstalled?

In the service status it will reflect as

    exim (packageeximisnotinstalled)

    but the status is green.

When this happens, mails cannot be sent nor received. Only after EXIM is re-installed, the problem is fixed. This has happened twice and I am forced to set updates to manual.

Can anyone point me to something I can read up or help me with this problem?

    I am running WHM 10.6.0 cPanel 10.6.0-R55

    Thank you.

    Patrick

If you can recreate the problem with every /scripts/upcp run then I would suggest that you log a ticket and/or bugzilla entry with cPanel and have them take a look.

Taking cue from Jon's mail, I did a test by doing /scripts/upcp.

    Indeed EXIM is uninstalled.

I checked WHM to make sure it was alright before doing so, and after the UPCP, it reflects EXIM as uninstalled.

I also noted that during UPCP the following lines state that :

The following extra packages will be installed:
    httpd postfix sendmail
The following packages will be REMOVED:
    MySQL-shared bandmin exim
The following NEW packages will be installed:
    httpd postfix sendmail

I did a manual /scripts/upcp myself and confirmed that this happens, and cpanel reflects EXIM as uninstalled.

Reinstalling EXIM vai /scripts/eximup --force rectified the problem

I have logged this using the support system in WHM.

    Thanks.

Interestingly, CPanel tech did a /scripts/upcp --force and it did not happen.

What I had done to replicate the problem was simply /scripts/upcp w/o the --force

However, I don't know if it is still happening now, as --force has been performed.

You'll probably need to contact whoever setup yum on your system as I can't guess what conflict is being caused by the yum update source.

    For sharing:

Cpanel Tech made this initial assessment.

I noticed a bunch of psoft RPM's on the server (and daemons installed by psoft) which leads me to believe that Plesk was on this server before this and cPanel was installed ontop of it? I noticed that the 'rpm' RPM was installed by psoft also. This may explain why it kept trying to exclude exim and include httpd, postfix, sendmail, etc

They currently still working on it.

    Regards
