Default Exim passwords encrypted or plain text?

Simple question: are mail passwords encrypted or are they in a file somewhere in clear text?

    Thanks.

    They are one-way encrypted.

Is there any way to recover the password if you have forgotten it?

Indeed, although it is technically possible if you have a weak password and some spare processor time, you can try to brute force them

To name but two eminent utilities. Changing the password in WHM would probably be easier, but much less fun
