    Default Exim Stoped working

    Hi,

In my FreeBSD 5.4 Cpanel server exim stoped working. There is no exim process running, when trying to start exim, i get following error

/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libperl.so" not found, required by "exim"
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libperl.so" not found, required by "exim"
    server20#
I tried /scripts/eximup -f but it won't fix the problem.

Can any one telll how to fix the problem ?

    Regards,

    Yujin

Default Perl has probably been upgraded

I know this thread is old, but I spent a long time trying to solve this exact problem, hopefully this will sort things out for the next guy.

Most likely perl has been upgraded since exim was installed and that is what is causing the error rather than the exim installation. Try running the following:

    /usr/local/bin/perl-after-upgrade -f

It worked for me. I find cpanel under freebsd is many times more stable and scalable than under linux, but it definitly has its share of gotchas.

Having the same problem, and under FreeBSD to boot. Only problem with Ed's suggestion is that I don't have a perl-after-upgrade file when he indicates I should, and I'm not having any luck finding one either.

I can confirm, however, that perl was upgraded right on top of when this problem first manifest itself (via a run of easyapache that proceeded to take apache offline for quite some time).

If I manage to turn anything up, I'll update here as well and try to help keep the community informed.

I pulled cpanel support in on this. They removed exim via ports and reinstalled.

    Seems to have fixed it.

Oh yea.. worked like a charm. I wish I would have known that command long time ago. Would have saved me lots of time. Thanks Again.

    Thanks
