Exiscan+Clam+Exim Autoinstaller

New Exiscan-Clam Package has been released. Read all about it at http://forums.cpanelappz.com/index.php?showtopic=13.

The new installer has many new features with a complete rewrite as compared to the earlier release.

I have put together an auto installer which will help take advantage of the exiscan patches in the new exim released earlier by cpanel.

Please post your questions and doubts here, i will try my best to answer them.

REMEMBER: Your cpanel release should be set to CURRENT/STABLE and you need to do a /scripts/upcp to move to CURRENT/STABLE release before you download and run this installer.

Edit: The installer now has the new clam update built in. For people who already used the installer, they can download the clam updater and update their clam to the latest.

Edit (06/04/2004): The autoinstaller and clam updater are now updated to install/ update clam to latest 0.72.

Edit (06/15/2004): The autoinstaller and clam updater are now updated to install/ update clam to latest 0.73.

Edit (07/01/2004): The autoinstaller and clam updater are now updated to install/ update clam to latest 0.74. Also checks have been placed which should take care of the first timer clam socket errors. This update also runs clam before exim starts thus taking care of clam not starting on some boxes.

Edit (07/30/2004): The autoinstaller and clam updater are now updated to install/ update clam to latest 0.75.1. Due to my regular work i wasn't able to release update for 0.75. FreeBSD version is now being released after many claim to run it without any problems. I am still not sure on it since i never got time to check it up.

Question: I had followed the install instructions at another thread (where you just posted the link to THIS one) and got as far as installiong clamAV ...but not further. Can I just "ignore" this -- do I need to uninstall clamAV now before using the auto installer? (Sorry if this sounds silly, I am not the most experienced...).

Clam takes some time to get installed. Its basically compiling in the background, you can open another ssh to the server and do a tail on /var/log/exim-exiscan-clam.install.log. This will give you whats happening.

Not quite sure if you may have misunderstood the question: I meant to say that clamAV is already installed on my box -- and if I can go from here?

Another question and possible problem:
Right now, with the "Newest Version: current 4" version of cPanel there is a bug -- at least I think it's one as I see it on both of my servers and have seen numerous messages here of other people stating so: the themes folder is empty and clients can't upload themes. .... Question is, if there is a newer version coming out of cPanel, will the regular updates, given I stick with "current" as updates settings, overwrite this clamAV + Exim install?

Sorry i misunderstood. Even if you have clam installed, np. The autoinstaller will overwrite the already installed version. So no worries.

Another question and possible problem:

Nope not that i can think of. And besides i am here

The autoinstaller doesn't use anything which cpanel would stop supporting, so i won't worry for this as of now.

nope you don't need to. I had trouble on a single server when i tried to install using this script and had it on stable release. Thats the reason i point it out seperately.

I am just hoping this helps people, i have been like flooded with requests for getting this done.

OK, I read your site and looked thru the bash scripts. I've got RHEL which you haven't tested on anyway. I'm on stable so I'll do the steps one at a time and maybe I can find the reason your stable had problems. I've got the latest clam and exim, so i really should be able to test it all before uninstalling mailscanner. The bash scripts look pretty straight forward.

Maybe i should be worried that i can read Bash scripts better than text instructions...

If you are confortable, pm me the rhel server details, i will install this myself for you There are steps in which i can still keep the mailscanner running and test the new exiscan+clam+exim.
