External DNS without Cpanel server

Hello! I need some help for an question:

I have one server with Cpanel and other without Cpanel.
I need that all my DNS stay in my second server (without Cpanel). This is possible? Or the other server "must" be a Cpanel server too?

I think you can use an external machine for your name servers and DNS even if it's not Cpanel. Cpanel is just the control panel, it uses BIND which is the standard linux name server.

cpanel has a "DNS ONLY" version which does not require a license and in my experience works quite well.

Yeah, but then you would have to write a script which would update the secondary servers named.conf every time a new domain was added or removed from the primary. Not a big deal but definately not automagic.
