Default File Manager -> Edit File

On 7/27 one of our users was editing a file using the File Manager -> Edit File option. When he exited the current file the edit option disappeared and has not been available since.

I have looked under his account and others, the edit file option is not available, the html editor has remained for an .html files.

We were not doing any updates or configuration changes.

The only post I was able to locate referring to the edit file option disappearing had a response from cPanel to change the file's permissions to 755, I have tried this and still do not receive the edit file option.

Our server version is as follows:
    WHM 10.0.0 cPanel 10.0.0-R143
    RedHat Enterprise 3 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

If i am not mistaken you are running a very, very old cpanel release. You should update your server ASAP to make use of the latest features and security updates.

If you are the server administrator you can do this via WHM or type /scripts/upcp in SSH. If you are not the server admin, Your hosting provider is seriously slacking and has not updated this server for several months!!

If you are running the release tree you should be on R119 at this stage and your WHM should say something along the lines of:

    WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.2-R119
    CentOS 4.3 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

The update has been applied with no change to the status of the "Edit File" option being available.

    Version is now:
    WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.2-R119
    RedHat Enterprise 3 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

We have located the location of the file editor as:

    https://servername:2083/frontend/x/f...ile=index.html

Putting this in manually after logging into the panel pulls up the editor just fine, so it is there and working but is not being given as an option in the right frame of the file manager.

I have tracked the source of that list to be an html page containing the following cpanel tag:
    <cpanel Fileman="showactions($FORM{'dir'},$FORM{'file'})">
    located in the file /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x/files/select.html

However I am not sure where to track it further from here to find the source of the "Edit File" option missing.

    Default Same problem.

I am getting this same error on a server and was wondering if anyone found a fix for it or could tell me what I am missing.

    WHM 11.23.2 cPanel 11.23.6-S27225
    CENTOS Enterprise 4.7 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

In the file manager for X and the legacy file manager for X3, it is missing the edit file.

    Show File Contents
    Delete File
    Change Permissions
    Rename File
    Copy File
    Move File

    Instead of:

    Show File
    Delete File
    Edit File
    Change Permissions
    Rename File
    Copy File
    Move File

Is this a setting in whm somewhere? I tried copying the files directory from another server and it did not work. I also tried running upcp. There are no errors in the cpanel error_log. I apologize for replying on an old thread but this is the same error I am getting. Any help would be appreciative.

    Question

What about the new File Manager in X3, does that work for you? Have you tried another browser to rule out issues that may be browser specific?

Yes, the new file manager in X3 does show the edit button. I tried IE7, Firefox 3 & 2. They are the same. It seems like there is a checkbox somewhere that is missing. I looked in the feature list and other places.
