Starting system logger: FAILED

It started to happen when i reboot after aborting a nmap compiling?

All right!

Well i followed this thread http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread....4&page=1&pp=15

and close in /etc/services all ports leaving just that ones from the first page of this above related thread and also used:

/etc/rc.d/int.d/./xinetd restart

then today i realize my syslog /var/log/messages as well as /var/log/secure were blank

i spended some hours trying to figure out what happened and then i edited again /etc/service

and :

syslog 514/udp

/etc/rc.d/init.d/./xinetd restart
/etc/rc.d/init.d/./syslog restart

and it worked so i decide to post this here i hope someone enjoy as much as i did

regards

claudio
