This isn't a help issue, just a little curious as to why forums.cpanel.net would opt not to use software that's included in cpanel. Is the forum software that comes with cpanel not good enough to serve as the official forum software of cpanel.net?

The software that is included with cPanel/WHM is free/open source software. vBulletin on the other hand isn't, but personally I feel it has more features and is more robust than SMF/phpBB2 (3 is pretty good).
There are also other things to consider, such as support, updates and so on that make a paid solution better in the long run than a free solution, for some companies.
