    Default Forwarders Disappeared!

    Hi,

    Another problem today....

    Our clients cpanels do not show up any mail forwarders. I have checked the valiases file and it appears to contain the info for the forwarding and so I preume that it is working.

    Todays going to be another long one for me I think.

    Just a guess - Double check permissions on those files to make sure they're writable by cpanel and readable by exim.

    I think the permissions of the valiases folder and the files inside are correct.....

    I'm having this problem too. Cpanel seems to be looking for the valiases file in /domain.com, not /etc/valiases/domain.com. Creating a symlink fixes it, so that appears to be the cause.

    I found the source of this problem on my server: /var/cpanel/cpanel.config was all !@#$ed up, and it's supposed to contain the paths to the valiases and vfilters directories. Without this, Cpanel won't know where to look for the domain.com files, and will thusly produce the error above.

    Angry valiases file mysteriously gone!

    What about this--has anyone else's valiases file for the main domain keep disappearing on him? I don't know what is deleting the file. I'd recreate it, and it'd disappear again after some time.

    Does anyone know what could be the culprit?

    load /var/cpanel/cpanel.config inside an editor. These lines should be there inside it:

    VALIASDIR=/etc/valiases
    VFILTERDIR=/etc/vfilters

    If the above lines are not present, then this is wat mite cause probs for you. Try if this fixes ur probs on forwarders.

    Had this problem again. This time the cause was incorrect /var/cpanel/cpanel.config permissions. Apparently cpsrvd forks off a child running as the user who logs in, and this child rereads the config file. If it is not world readable, the VALIASDIR and VFILTERDIR settings will not be read, resulting in the child looking for the domain.com file in / instead of /etc/valiases.

    Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but this forum is great for searching and I like to contribute whenever possible.
