Default forwarding an email account and let a copy on the server -> possible?

    Hi,

is it possible to setup a forwarder for an email adress in cpanel and duplicate the email? one stays on the server and a second one goes to the specified emailadress?

thx for any hints, tips and comments.

    david.

If you have an email account set up as well as a forwarder for that same address, it will work exactly the way you want.

    Example:
    1) Email account on server: user@domain.com
    2) Forwarder: user@domain.com -> user@anotherdomain.com

The way I understand the mail delivery sequence is that the forwarders are first processed. And then, if a local account for the address also exisits, it is delivered locally as well.

You can also have multiple forwarders for an address for even more copies if you wish

Registerpol, do you mean delivering email to an account (in the usual fashion), and then later forwarding or transferring it from there to one or more nother email addresses? You can do that with fetcmail (not part of cPanel, but should be installed on your machine). You can also set up fetcmail as cron job to run as frequently as needed. We often use it when transferring a client from another host to our server to get all his email in one place while his domain update propagates.

If I did not understand your question correctly, then sorry

    not this way sorry :-)

I just want to have one email forwarding emails to 3 other from the same domain. but finally to not keep anything on the main account.

    I think creating alias

    master : email1@domain.com
    master : email2@domain.com
    master : email3@domain.com

    and then

    master : /dev/null
    (to delete emails from master@domain.com

Do you think this will work ? or just deleting account master will do ?

    Regards

if you have control over all this emailadresse you can do it this way:

setup NO account for the master adress but only a forwarder to email1.
setup an emailaccount for email1 AND a forwarder to email2.
repeat that as long as you want.

    Default OK.. now I'm lost!

How can I set up a forwarder, without setting up an account?

Here's my angle : I've got mail accounts with a "_" character inside (like jan_vorster@cyberprop.com) and I need to set up a forwarder like jan.vorster@cyberprop.com to forward mail to the jan_vorster@cyberprop.com mailbox.

I do not want mail to be stored in a jan.vorster@cyberprop.com mailbox.

    How do I do this?

    Thanks!

Set up a forwarder to forward mail from jan.vorster@cyberprop.com to jan_vorster@cyberprop.com. Create an account for jan_vorster@cyberprop.com. Mail sent to jan.vorster@cyberprop.com will be forwarded to the jan_vorster@cyberprop.com mailbox and there won't be any jan.vorster@cyberprop.com mailbox to store mail in.

Just setup the jan_vorster@cyberprop.com) to jan.vorster@cyberprop.com forwarder and delete the jan.vorster@cyberprop.com mail account.

I.E. log into cpanel and click on Forwarders and create the forwarder.

Go back to the main page of the control panel and click on the Manage Accounts link that lists Pop Email Accounts and delete the jan.vorster@cyberprop.com account.

Mail will be forwarded but no stored.

    Unhappy

Unless I'm doing it incorrectly, this doesn't work for me. I don't want copies left on the server, and didn't know there were until I got critical warnings about email box space running out. I had to go in and delete over six thousand emails from my clients' accounts (they all have forwarders). If I do what everyone says, the email eventually comes through... thirty-five HOURS later. My hosting service isn't being helpful. Honestly, they act like I'm lying about this.

Rather than repeat myself, feel free to read the thread here (I don't believe you have to register to read):

    http://ehostpros.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1312

So if anyone has a solution to this, I'd be grateful. Thanks.
