    Default Frontpage subweb information

Several threads on the passthrough authentication thing, but we've been testing and doing trial and error on accounts having this problem, and have encountered an interesting situation that we though might help troubleshoot the remaining issues with this.

On a site having passthrough auth problems, we removed the content and started fresh.

Here’s what I had to do to get the site published using front page:

The root web published fine and the next 2 subwebs.
Then I got the dreaded user name and password prompt. I tried re-entering my password with no luck.
I uninstall front page extensions and reinstalled. Went back to the subweb that would not publish and it worked fine. Was able to publish the next 2 subweb ok. Then the same problem with the next one.

I continued the process of publishing 2 subwebs then reinstalling front page to publish the next 2 until all were published. What a pain!

Maybe that will help someone at cpanel understand and resolve the issue? It's an interesting find, yes?

    Default FrontPage Subweb Problems

This is the exact same thing that has been happening to one of our clients for the past few weeks!

I have an open ticket with DarkORB. They suggested re-installing the FP RPM and a few other things. We have removed /reinstalled FP extensions for the web, upgraded to Edge, etc. -- no help.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Let me know if you find a fix.

I've only seen one frontpage ticket in the last couple of days. If you have a ticket open about this, please post the number.

Note: Frontpage is broken in stable 82

    Nick,

Thanks for your response and concern. Not running 82-stable, running latest or near-latest EDGE because someone claimed that it fixed FrontPage issues and while I'm not normally one to upgrade to EDGE, I was fairly desperate :-).

    The ticket ID is 22709.

Sorry for not posting this earlier.

    Thanks,
    Russ

Nick has investigated on my server and has fixed this. I believe an upgrade to any version should fix it. Nick can confirm.

problem with subwebs here too using "publish web" and selecting "changed pages" and "include subwebs". I am then prompted for a login name and password, with the message "This operation requires author permission for www.domain.com:80". I put in correct username and password and the login pops up again without letting me in.

    Any help ?

Have the same problem, but not sure un- and re-installing FP extensions are a good solution because we find we loose the themes and hence all formatting of the subwebs looks awful.

Publishing subwebs require authentication even though permissions are not unique.
After publishing the main web it tries to publish the sub webs but stops at the authenticate window. The subwebs have the same permission as the main web. I’ve tried entering my ID and PW again to no avail. The window pops back up every time I submit the ID
and PW. I converted the subweb to a folder and renamed it starting with a CAP LETTER and subweb published ok, i.e., www.domainname.com/test to www.domainname.com/Test. However, all links to the newly named subweb are broken. Hoping for something soon on this one.

Same problem - client cannot access subweb.

My server is on release cPanel 7.4.2-R116.

Is that supposed to be one of the releases that is corrected? I gather not, because I'm still having the problem.
