    Default Frontpage support nightmares

I was wondering how other hosting companies handle frontpage instructions, especially in regard to uploading into the public_html directory. We have clients that use frontpage 2000, 2002 and 2003 that just upload to their domain name and it goes into public_html. Other users of Frontpage 2000 and 2002 actually need to specify to upload to
    http://domainname.com/public_html
I'm not a Frontpage user, but there seems to be no reason Frontpage uploads to public_html or to /home/username/

    It's really weird....

    Does anyone know the secret....?

Yeah, we too hate FrontPage support... Always something going wrong with it on linux/cpanel servers.

Now we have the best solution, is to tell them to use windows servers, never any problems there.

But onto what sounds like is happening is this...

If they use front page and use the ftp upload function of it, then they will need to send it to the public_hmtl folder ( i.e. ftp://ftp.domain.ext/public_html/ ) but if they publish with front page extensions, then they should use just the domain ( i.e. http://www.domain.ext/ )

Thats right...The www. prefix is required for the extentions to work. Instruct your users in their welcome email to use http://www.

    Default Thanks

Thanks for the pointer on using www. I never use it so my support docs didn't either. Those that followed my support docs messed up and those that entered www. didn't.

    Your help much appreciated.

My server is having constant attacks with the shtml.exe from the Front Page Server Extentions. While this article explains the problem -- the solution is over my head.

Anyone else having this problem -- and if so how are you dealing with it?
