FTP Backup - Pointless?

I'm trying to understand the real point of backups in CPanel, specifically FTP backups.

If FTP backups can't be restored through cpanel, why bother with them? The point of CPanel's backups IMO are in case of accidental data loss. They are clearly not a viable solution for a hacked machine.

CPanel's restore feature is nice, if you have a 2nd hard drive, but the manual restore feature if you have FTP backups enabled is a pain.

Am I missing something here?

Also, it would be nice if CPanel supported 2 types of backups. 1 offsite (ie. ftp) and 1 local (ie. 2nd harddrive)

There's already a feature request in for simultaneous backups to FTP and local hard drive. You can vote for this feature at:
