FTPD failed after upgrade

Hello,

After upgrading Apache to version 2.2, php to version 5.2.8, mysql to 5.1 and perl to 5.8.8 the server is giving the following error message:

ftpd failed @ Thu Feb 12 09:10:10 2009. A restart was attempted automagically.

Any idea as to what could be causing this?

Hello,

Went to proftp and that is working, reverting back to pure and pure still is not working. So now it is on proftp which is slower.

Is there any way to force a reinstall of pureftp on the server?

Go to WHM and force a cPanel update. That should clean up any problems.

If you are using the cpanel then there must be an option of switching from proftpd to pureftp, try locate this option.

this is exactly what happened to me after the big update. my pure ftpd is failing every few minutes and restarting again because of the monitor but i cant seem to figure out why. this definitely happened after the new cpanel was installed.

I dont want to use pro-ftpd as it doesnt suit my needs and i made a post in here a couple of weeks ago about it but it mysteriously went missing.

Any help would be appreciated in fixing this problem.
