Full Backup file size limitation?

I have an account that i'm trying to generate a full backup in cpanel sent via ftp. The account has around 770megs in it. I have successfully backed up and restored many accounts before but they were all under 30 megs.

When I go to backup this account it starts fine and even sends me an email stating that it is complete. Then I ssh into the server and see the file 'backup-7.4.2003_21-08-44_client.tar.gz'. When I try and ungzip it gives the error:

gzip: backup-7.4.2003_21-08-44_client.tar.gz: unexpected end of file

The file size says that it's only 147832832 bytes when I know that it's around 770 megs

Is there a file size limitation? and/or is it a server configuration, if so, on the recieving side or sending side?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds silly , i am not trying to insult anyones intelligence , but have you got enough quota for the user in question ?

Nothing should ever be considered too silly for this message board but thatnk you for the consideration.

It's a new server with 40 gigs of space. I have recently been learning ssh'ing and think that I will just ncftp the public_html folder then back up the rest via full backup. This should work for sure. I hope.

Mainly I just wanted to see if there was some sort of max ftp limit on the server or in cpanel.

Wat euselect was trying to say was that whether the user you talking about has free space in his account to take the backup ?? try increasing his quota, i.e. atleast 1.5GB and see if the backup still fails.

wat backup destination you choose ??

home directory: means you need to have atleast 2 times space what his actual usage is.

If that's the case then i'll bump up that accounts space and try it again. I'll let you know.

I just checked it meanwhile for you on one account of mine with 400mb disk usage, you need to have empty disk space in customer/ user account to enable the backup script to create backups for you. Incase your account gets full, the backup is left at that point.
