gcc - no longer works?

I do not think thsi is specifically a cpanel issue, but I am hoping someone may had the same or simialr problem and can point me in the right direction.

My spamd is failing so I tried to run the /scripts/fixspamassassinfailedupdate script. That fails because it says gcc can't compile executables.

configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

/usr/bin/make -- NOT OK
Running make install
make had returned bad status, install seems impossible

is the exact thing it says.


I confirmed that it is not disabled in WHM.

I also tried /fixeverything script as well as the gcc3 (which fails with the lasty part being this:

make: *** [install-gcc] Error 2

Any ideas?

You're not out of disk space are you?

You could also try clearing out /home/.cpan

rm -Rfv /home/.cpan/

Then try installing spamassassin:

/scripts/perlinstaller --force Mail::SpamAssassin

If it still fails, navigate through the directories to the SpamAssassin build under /home/.cpan and have a look for the config.log file and see where it's actually failing.

As it turns out, I was not out of diskspace or anything as easy as that.

About half of my server is gone (I mean half of the files). I am having to have the OS reloaded and hope i can get the accounst restores asap. What a disaster.
