    Default Help Needed with "A Record" in cPanel

    Hello,
    I'm using the Simple DNS Editor to modify the "A Record" for a specific domain. The screen asks me to enter:

    ====================
    Add an A Record

    Name: ______________

    Address: _______________

    [Add A Record]
    ====================

    I have left the "Name" field empty, and entered my server's IP address into the "Address" field. My goal is to point my domain (mydomain.com) to this IP. I do not want to use any subdomain.

    However, when I try to "Add a Record" it tells me I need to enter a "valid zone name". When I enter a zone name, it links my IP to a subdomain, like:

    david.mydomain.com

    How do I create a A Record in cPanel that links my "root" domain (mydomain.com) to my IP without using any subdomains?

    Thanks in advance for your time.

    David

    You're not going to be able to do this within cPanel... that's done by your host or whomever has root/WHM access.
