    Default Hesitant to switch to X3 skin... should I be?

    Yes, I'm one of the few who uses the older X skins for my customers still, as there are a couple things about X3 that put me off a bit (such as giving the user video tutorials for features I have diabled, or encouraging to get involved in stuff they won't manage correctly like WebDav etc...).

    But now I'm starting to wonder, with all the changes lately, and the lack of RoundCube in the older skins, if I should be switching up to X3.

    I'm interested in the opinions of long-time WHM/cPanel users on this topic - how many of you are still using older skins, and how many are using X3? And also, if you think X3 is the way to go, then why? Also, any pitfalls?

    Thanks for your thoughts and opinions, I appreciate them!

    None than I'm aware of, my clients loved the change.

    The only thing you will be upset about is that you didn't make the switch sooner.

    Have you tried the X theme for X3?

    Well I've gotta say Kenneth, you have me there. Perhaps it's the fact that I spend so much time absorbed in assisting customers and keeping my small business running that I lose track of what's going on around me. I have no idea what "X theme for X3" even entales.

    Oddly enough, it's a theme we provide for X3 that makes the X3 interface look like X. Actually, it's not a theme, it's a style, I always get those two terms confused.

    Check it out yourself on an account. Login to an X3 enabled account, click Change Style. Scroll down until you see a picture labeled 'x' Click the radio button underneath followed by clicking the Change Style button.

    Once you return to the main cPanel interface, you will be greeted by the X theme in all its glory, with the advantage that it's merely a variation of X3 so will continue to work and be maintained (unlike the real X theme).

    Excellent, thank you! But now comes the obvious question - is there a way to set it so that all customer just get the "X theme for X3" without a choice? I'm guessing no, but there's always wishful thinking

    You should be able to do this in the Branding area

    WHM => Branding => x3 [edit live]

    Click on Apply to All Accounts under x

    ** This will not apply to resold accounts, only accounts owned by the user you logged into whm with

    Thanks everyone! Especially for the guidance on "locking in" a theme for all users.
