Default Host cannot recieve mail?

My problem is my server cannot recieve email to only one of its domains. Now this domain porteightyhosting.com is also the domain the nameserver is on(ns1.porteightyhosting.com). The hostname of the machine was s1.portyeighthosting.com but from the errors I was recieveing it and what cpanel said I needed to change the hostname from an actuall acount/hosted domain. Becuase porteightyhosting.com is hosted on the machine. SO I changed the hostname to cal.stevenetworks.com (which is a domain that is not hosted and does not even has its dns handled by the server in question).

This is the error that the server is getting when it is trying to email me daily info, this does not get recieved in an inbox but I read it from the queue:

1B7YzT-00066h-20-D
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

webmaster@cal.stevenetworks.com
(generated from root@cal.stevenetworks.com)
Unrouteable address

This is the error I get when I send an email from a yahoo account:

Message from yahoo.com.
Unable to deliver message to the following address(es).

<port80@porteightyhosting.com>:
Sorry, I couldn't find a mail exchanger or IP address. (#5.4.4)

The thing is the mx record for this domain completely matches other mx records for other domains hosted except for the entries for the nameservers. And all the other domains Im hosting email works fine. Any suggestions? I having been toying with the for the past 3 weeks to no avail.

The problem is with your nameservers. They are on private ips.

Thanks for that link, that is GREAT. So what should I do? the server operates as nameserver for hosting. Just get outside namehosting for that domain name(porteightyhosting.com)? But then are the domains Im hosting going to have problems? I have had some intermitent problems with the domain names, like accessing the sites and ftp ing in. Thoughts? THANKS!

You should probably contact managed.com and give them that link.

Here is what I was told, in essence.... dnsreport.com is wrong. Thats all they said.

> I was wondering how you guys check if an IP is in the public
address space. We currently have an IP block assigned from ARIN (
65.75.128.0/18 ) of which IP's show up under dnsreport query tool as non public
IP addresses, causing concern for many of our customers.

We use the IP->Country database that ARIN provides. It seems that
it takes ARIN a couple of months to get new IPs listed in their
IP->Country database.

Sorry, but that means it's time to get a new data center.

Try:
http://www.atjeu.com <- Highly recommended
http://www.ev1servers.net <- Formerly known as "Rack Shack"
