Default how to access "home directory"?

    i have a problem here.

i paid a hosting which used cpanel for their customer.
    i'm not a reseller..,
i'm just a cpanel user, so i think i dont have access to the "home directory"

i have an account with 10 gigabyte space
recently, i made some "home directory" backup
and it eating my space. now i dont have any space left...

on my cpanel account, its written like this :

    General account information:

    Disk space available -57.09 Megabytes
    but when i click the

    Disk usage

    icon

i see my disk usage is still much space empty..., not even a half of it being used. and thats what it should be.

it must be my backup which made my disk usage became full.
so, i need to delete those useless backups. but i dont know how to access the "home directory".

i have the ssh access / shell access. but how to use it??
    please answer my question.

if it sounds a stupid question, then just give me the link to the appropriate article, which can solve my problem.

    thanks

If you are new to SSH then putty (presuming you are on windows or unix) would be your best bet. The docs are quite complete.

You can use FTP to delete the files

You can use cpanel's file manager to delete the files - just remember to emty the transh after you're done.

You can download PuTTY as suggested above, learn unix commands and delete those files.

If you're not sure how to any of the above, your host should be able to tell you how.

Your home directory is the topmost directory that you can access in the cPanel file manager and FTP.

cPanel also has a disk usage feature that can tell you where the bulk of disk space is being used.

I can take a look at your account, just pm me or AIM: elleryjh
