Default How to change Horde webmail passwords in the shadow file

    Hi,

If we want to change the webmail password of one of our users temporarily to something else, and restore the original one back after our work is over, how can we do this?

Removing the encryped password in $HOME/etc/<domain.name>/shadow didn't help. What else is needed to be done to achieve this?

    Thank you,

Why not use the change password function in the mail account management page of the cPanel interface? The Horde password is the same as their password for other means of accessing email.

    Hi David:

This is to handle the scenario where we don't know a user's webmail password. We temporarily want to change it to something else to test something out, and restore the original back once our testing is over. The user need not know about this testing.

    Thank you

Instead of manually manipulating one record in the file, how about this:

    1. Create backup of shadow file
    2. Use password change feature to change password for targeted user
    3. Perform tests
    4. Restore shadow file
