How to clean a mail box with a large number of emails

I have an email account (catch-all one) containing a large number of emails. Most of these emails are old and the client wants me to clean them all older than this X month (ex: September).

Is there are any easy way of doing this through SSHor WHM ? … otherwise It would take couple of hours for me to clean them through webmail…

Can someone help me to find a better solution ?

thanks for the quick reply.. but I believe that will clean all my emails at once right?.. well what i want is to clean emails between certain period of time.. for ex: I want to delete any emails older than October 31t 2005 or all email 01 October 2005 to 31 October 2005.

I'm not aware of a tool to do that with mbox format. It would be trivial if you were using maildir. You could use a simple email POP3 reader that would allow you to easily delete emails such as Magic Mail Monitor:
