how do I compile PURE-FTPD without the default welcom message ??

I need to disable pure-ftpd welcome message at all, and someone told me that I will need to compile it with the flag --no-banner...

Now.. i always have pure-ftpd already installed on my system because it comes with cPanel installation already, and when I need to reinstall it I always use /scripts/ftpup --force, so how do I recompile pure-ftpd with the flag --no-banner ? Can anyone explain step by step.. ?
