Default How do I upgrade mod_ssl?

I have two servers, one RHEL 5, one CENTOS. This is a problem with both.

On the WHM news page, it states that the latest version of mod_ssl is 2.8.27.

The RHEL server has mod_ssl 2.0.63, CENTOS has mod_ssl 2.2.11.

These versions both match the versions of apache which are installed. i.e. RHEL server has Apache 2.0.63, CENTOS has Apache 2.2.11.

OpenSSL is 0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 and 0.9.7a respectively.

I've tried several upgrading methods, including EasyApache, but none seem to upgrade mod_ssl - at least the version that is displayed remains the same.

    How do I upgrade it??

Those are the latest versions of Apache 2.0 and 2.2 respectively that we support. Are you sure you are checking the correct version information (mod_ssl, not Apache)?

As I said in the original post, those are the reported versions of mod_ssl AND apache.

    Here's apache's signature:
    Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at xxx.xxx

So the problem seems to be that mod_ssl is reporting the wrong version - that of apache. In that case:

    a) what is the actual version of mod_ssl?
    b) how can I get it to start reporting the correct version?

This is a long standing flaw in the WHM News interface, which should be corrected in cPanel 11.25.

For Apache 2.x the mod_ssl version is the same as the Apache version. This is because mod_ssl was merged into the main Apache tree for Apache 2.0 and newer. Only for Apache 1.3 will the mod_ssl version be different than the Apache version.
