Default How do you do a mail conversion for only one user?

We are retiring our old RH 7.3 servers and would like to move our users from those servers over to another server thats already running Courier. The conversion on the second server was run many months ago.

The problem is, the users who are being moved to the second server are still using the old mail format since we were never able to run the convert2mail program on RH 7.3 servers. So the question is, once we restore those users to the new server how do we run the convert2mail script on those users mailboxes?????

Is there a way to only update the mailboxes for certain users?

Running /scripts/convert2maildir will convert all mbox mailboxes to maildir and that's it. If you run it on a server with both mbox and maildir mailboxes, the maildir mailboxes will be ignored.

You should be able to copy the accounts over and then just run /scripts/convert2maildir

I don think that will work. Because then our existing users will need to resubscribe to Squirrelmail folders wont they? I dont want to rerun the conversion utility on already existing clients.

The conversion utility will ignore anything but mbox mailboxes, so it won't be re-run for existing clients.

I can confirm that. The conversion scripts simply check accounts for email in mbox format and convert them to maildir if it finds any. Existing users will already be in maildir format, so it only converts accounts copied over in mbox format. In the newer releases, it restore scripts are meant to do the conversion for you automatically.
