How to force a backup of an existing user account?

Hi,

I hope this is the correct place for this question.

I am attempting to restore a client's website. I have copied his last full backup into root/home/ for example /home/backup.1.24.2010_xx-xx-xx_username.tar.gz

When I attempt to run the following command from root, I get the error "no restorable archives found"

No archives were found for usr --force!!

# /scripts/restorepkg  /home/backup-1.24.2010_xx-xx-xx_username.tar.gz --force

I must be missing something; but, for the life of me, I can't figure out what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should also add that I already did a /scripts/restorepkg username that gave the same error as above without the "found for usr --force

I am making some progress, I think.

I changed the location of --force in my command

# /scripts/restorepkg --force  /home/backup-1.24.2010_xx-xx-xx_username.tar.gz

The problem now is that it automatically recognizes an earlier backup in the /home directory. It still fails as that seems to be corrupted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It appears you'd like to restore via the command line. There is an easier way if you're interested:

I am always interested in easier.

The only problem was that this was a local user full backup.

The cPanel backup wizard did not work. It just kept requesting a connection, for hours.

What I finally did was terminate the user account, upload the backup via sfpt to /home and then issue the command

# /scripts/restorepkg --force backupfilename.tar.gz

That did the trick.

I looked at the link you posted early on in this process, but it did not help me.
