Default How to NOT use the default mail server

We have a client that uses its OWN mail server internally.

Which means everything works great, they send/receive emails ever using the mail server provided by cPanel/WHM.

However, when the website creates an email, for example when someone fills out a form on the website, the email gets sent to the website's own mail server, and since the client uses an internal mail server, the emails that exist DONT exist on the website so they all fail.

How can I resolve this issue? I can't change the MX entry either, because their internal MX entry is called mail.WEBSITE.com but because it's named exactly same as the mail server provided by the website's default MX entry, cPanel/WHM does NOT send it to the correct mail server...

Php script , contact from uses default mail server for sending/receiving emails. You can use server IP address as SMTP server instead mail.website.com in your script. Please try with this change and see of you are able to send/receive emails.

You need to make the changes in your script that is being used to send receive / emails from your website. You can also take the help of your host for this.

Is there a way to just TURN OFF the entire mail server on our website for RECEIVING only??

So that the website is able to SEND emails but not receive? So by default it uses the internal mail server to receive but use website mail server to send?

You should edit the DNS Zone for the domain name and ensure the following option is selected under "Email Routing":

    "Remote Mail Exchanger"

This will configure the server to not accept mail locally and send mail to the lowest MX record. Also, you can determine the IP address of the remote mail server, and add an "A" record for a new subdomain pointing to that IP address. You could then use that new subdomain for your MX records.

    Thank you.
