    Default How to preview website

Hello, I have a new dedicated server and now I want to preview a website, or better there is an account with joomla installed, and work on that joomla website without a hostname allready connected to the site.
With my older server it did worked with http://ipserver/~username but with the new server it doesn't work that way.

Looks like mod_userdir is enabled on the server which restricts the ip/~username access. Goto

WHM >> Security Center >> Apache mod_userdir Tweak
and see if "Enable mod_userdir" checkbox is selected. If it is, deselect it and save. You can also disable the protection on per user basis.

Default View logs using the shell

You must log into the shell to view the Apache logs. Log into the shell as root via SSH, and use the less or tail command to view the log. If you use the tail -f command, you can follow what is written to the file while you try to view the site.

What happens if you disable mod_userdir protection for DefaultHost (nobody)? The preview should work. If you disable protection for yourdomain.com (youracct), then it will allow mod_userdir to work for http://yourdomain.com/~someacct. This is probably not what you want, so protection needs to be disabled for DefaultHost (nobody).
