An old trick we used to use in college is get a script that does POP3 authentication and use that to authenticate against webmail logins. Remember, all webmail accounts are also POP3 and IMAP accounts.

Hi David, thanks for your answer, and this is a good trick, but I will need to modify cPanel code, this is the scenario: I have my site administered by cPanel, and have a directory web protected, what I need is that the users that have an email account can access this protected directory with the same user/password they use for access their email...

Do you know how to make this possible???

    Kind Regards ...

    Edgar.

Directory password protection is handled using .htaccess files with Apache. It's actually not a direct functionality of cPanel itself.

Offhand, I am not aware of where or how webmail credentials are stored.
