    Default httpd failed, syntax ok?

    /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd configtest
    (blank return

    httpd configtest
    syntax ok

    WHM Apache was recompliled.
    httpd failed with error:

httpd: [ != HTTP/1..] httpd has failed, please contact the sysadmin.

    I tried:

    WHM recompile
    /scripts/rebuildhttpdconf
    /scripts/fixcommonproblems
    service chkservd restart

Restart via ssh (apache), syntax ok still but sites / httpd still down.

Reinstalled Zend to make sure, successful - httpd still fails

I attempted to recompile the default settings and got this during the process:

    make php-4.4.1...(install).... Done
    make: *** [install-sapi] Error 1
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start: httpd started

    configure php-4.4.1...(--prefix=/usr --with-xml --enable-bcmath --enable-calendar --enable-ftp --enable-magic-quotes --with-mysqli --with-mysql=/usr --enable-discard-path --with-pear --enable-sockets --enable-track-vars --enable-versioning --with-zlib).... . . . . . . . .

I had to recompile using #8 option in ssh instead. That finally fixed it (after two tries there).
