https domain redirect / parking

How do I get https traffic to redirect from an old domain name to a new domain name, eg https://domain1.com to redirect to https://domain2.com?

I have tried parking one domain to the other, meta redirects, htaccess rewrites - everything I can think of. Although it works fine for non-secure (http) traffic, I can't get anything working to redirect https traffic.

Both the old site and the new one have their own SSL certs installed on the server. I don't think that has anything to do with it though...

I had assummed that if I parked domain1 on domain2, that it would move both http and https traffic, but it apparently only moves the http traffic.

The problem with https is that you need 1 IP per SSL certificate and an SSL cert is only good for one domain (since a wildcard won't work here).

If you do it as just a parked domain it should handle the http fine, but as you are saying not https.

Are you trying to permanently park it? If not you could do a 301 redirect.

If you are trying to permanently park it on top you could always have it as a separate acct but manually change the apache docroot and run apache distiller. I don't believe cPanel will let you park a domain on top AND have SSL but the above work around would be ok.

Yes, it is being permanently parked. Can you explain again how I would park it AND get https to redirect? I didn't understand the "manually change the apache docroot and run apache distiller"
