imagemagick help

I used easy apache to install GD and it worked perfectly.
I used cpanel to install imagemagick it it says that it installed. When I check my php info I can see that it's been compiled with "-with GD" but it doens't include "-with imagick"

what else do I have to do to get imagemaigick working in php?

Yeah, I had the same problem and would like to know this. It also says that netpbm is allready installed. But I can't find it.

You will won't see --with-imagemagick on your phpinfo as imagemagick does not get compiled into php. It is a standalone binary that you can call from within php script.

Great. what's the path? whereis imagemagick turns up nothing.

imagemagick has a lot of various binaries that all do different things. Like the software PhotoPost uses the binary "mogrify" from the imagemagick install. Typically these are located in /usr/X11R6/bin/

type:

locate mogrify

and "locate convert"

Those are two of the IM binaries commonly used, so that should point you to the right path.

Did you do this thru the RPM install in WHM?

Cause when I did both they never showed up. I couldn't even find them on the server, even after a reboot.

I ended up installing imagemagick by hand, seemed the best way.

I tried using the imagemagick fxns in a php script and I get an unknown function error. I checked the imagemagick site, and it said that you have to recompile php with the - with imagik . I didn't want to even attempt it since cpanel was handling the install.

I tried running imagick_readimage

do I have to require a file? is there any info here about using imagemagick on a cpanel server?

It is installed though. I did the locate mogify and got

this dir is full of files I'd like to check out
/usr/X11R6/share/ImageMagick/www/
how do I bring it up in a browsrer? I'm there in SSH right now but not sure how to view them.

If you wanted to view the contents of the cd.html file in that folder via SSH type cat cd.html the same for any other file.

Incorrect information - imagick CAN be compiled into PHP - it might be in PEAR's PECL section, but it still needs to be specified at compile time.

Download the latest imagick from PEAR's website (http://pear.php.net), follow the installation instructions. If you have problems, check the PEAR-users Maillist, there's a few solutions to common problems covered in there.
