I guess that was directed at me! There is a workaround, since you can sym link peer level maildirs into one of the mail directories and they become visible as subfolders in IMAP. The same could probably be achieved with Courier ACLs which would be somewhat neater. No other comments from anyone who's struck this with their users?

Since I've been grumbling, let me state that I too had absolutely no problem with email being received or sent, everything worked perfectly. The only problem I have is with users using global webmail.

After the upgrade, some of my clients use Yahoo and POP3 to grab mail from the server.

They are given this error msg:

POP server does not support LAST command. You may only retrieve POP mail from this server using "get all messages".
Where do I open a ticket agian?

Well, it turned out that the folders were simply unsubscribed. If you click the Folders link and subscribe to the folders again, they'll show up on the folders list just fine.

Not a big deal, but I got some tickets from terrified customers asking why their email had been lost. You may want to post it in your knowledge base or let your customers know.

I had issues with this as well. The odd thing is I still don't know how users can re-subscribe to Folders in Horde.

And what about the draft and sent mail folders...? Outlook Express can not sync emails with subfolders!! Do you have the same problem?

    Solved:
No problem with Thunderbird, in outlook solved with inbox path=INBOX

    Question

    Hi,

I have done the IMAP/maildir conversion, few weeks ago; I'm getting the following error(s):

    Code:
    2005-10-29 01:51:23 H=(localhost) [72.138.94.xx] F=<user@domain.com> rejected RCPT <user@domain.com>: Sender verify failed
    Code:
    2005-10-29 02:03:43 H=(localhost) [61.170.173.xx] sender verify defer for <user@domain.net>: could not connect to domain.net [67.19.69.xx]: Connection refused
    Code:
2005-10-29 02:03:43 H=(localhost) [61.170.173.xx] F=<user@domain.net> temporarily rejected RCPT <user@domain.com>: Could not complete sender verify callout
    Code:
2005-10-29 02:03:43 unexpected disconnection while reading SMTP command from (localhost) [61.170.173.xx]
And, if I disable the ‘Verify the existance of email senders.’ From the ‘Exim Configuration Editor’ it resolves the problem.

Does any one know how to fix this issue, once for all? it was working perfectly before the’ IMAP/maildir conversion’

    Thanks

grumbling, yes, as we all expect things to work as they have prior to the upgrade. i am still going through finding all kinds things which have been changed once the cpanel upgrade has been performed, etc. customers still upset, not much i can do except try.
spamassassin, the score required to block is 5 yet mail with 14.8 is getting through now after the upgrade to maildir, so will i grumble? yes, i will grumble as it worked for the longest time and now it isnt!

i have been called every name in the book and then some, from lots of my customers, who are pretty upset with the conversion. i told them about the security issue, they told me they have had no problems and their antivirus and firewalls do wll, so want to really know why the mess.

    That's Yahoo's Fault.
Only fix is that Uncheck "Receive Latest Mail (or something as i can't recall exact wording and do not feel like logging to yahoo), but this will get all the mails redownloaded everytime it connects.

Now on to exact reasons (with whatever i imbibed from ppl willing to share):

The LAST command was removed from the POP RFC back in 1994

In the current RFC1939 it's even not mentioned.
    http://www.remote.org/jochen/rfc/rfc1939.txt

    ---
And Yahoo doesn't bother about that.
This is just one instance where a "Large Satsifed User Base" doesn't automatically imply that they are doing perfect work. Another example of Yahoo mess is sending wrong content-type in AR mails header which means that any mail client which is not designed to take care of that would definitely see a blank AR Mail. Not too sure if they corrected this

    Cheers

That's unlikely to have anything to do with the conversion to maildir. If the sender verification isn't working then you need to check that your DNS resolvers are working correctly in /etc/resolv.conf

I have checked one of the four server’s ‘/etc/resolv.conf' file, and they look as following:

    PHP Code:
    nameserver 67.19.xx.xx
    nameserver 216.234.234.30
    nameserver 12.96.160.115

    I also tried:
    /scripts/courierup --force
    /scripts/eximup --force
    /scripts/upcp –-force

    without success!!

As I mentioned in my earlier post it was working perfectly before I done the’ IMAP/maildir conversion’

Any, more suggestions or should I open a support ticket with cPanel?

    Thanks.

Similarly this is the only problem we've been faced with, too. And it's a fairly critical issue because it means people who relied on that feature can no longer access their mail. Delivery is working OK though. Any further ideas on workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

[ Edit: as a temporary workaround, creating symlinks to alternate maildir folders works reasonably well, e.g. cd /home/user/mail/; ln -s example.com/user .ExampleUser ]

New problem since the upgrade… My server’s hostname is pool.XXXXXXXXXX.com

When some users are sending email since the upgrade, the emails come from username@pool.XXXXXXXXXX.com instead of username@usersdomain.com. This seems to be the issue via pop3, imap (thunderbird, outlook, etc.) and both Horde and Squirrel mail.

Also since the upgrade in all emails, I see a new section in the headers:

    Sender: <username@pool.XXXXXXXXXX.com>

Any clue as to why this is happening?

This is normal behavour of email. Some people have taken the time to enter full email addressess with tld's. Others have not therefore those users will be reported as username@yourhostname. I assume you have phpsuexec installed too?
