Default installing on existing client system

The system that I am working with already had exim, apache, bind, proftpd etc installed on it via rpm\'s. Should I uninstall all of these services before I install cpanel? Thanks for the help.

No need, really- save the virtual hosts from each config file that is vital to you...
but definitely there is no need to worry about uninstalling these packages.

They will get overwritten by the new sources, where applicable.

    Default system requirements

Is there any chance that documentation may exist as to what programs need to be installed or removed. Each time I install the system it hangs on a diffrent program that I have to go install.

Admittedly the install works much more smoothly on a completely freshly installed system (preferable RH 7.1/7.2 with *ALL* packages possible, installed)....

We/you can work on killing off everything that is bad/exploitable/unneeded after the initial install. Having everything available though, at first, is extremely vital to the process going as quickly as possible.
