Default Interesting Courier IMAP / Thunderbird issue(?)

Now that I'm using Courier IMAP, one problem that's cropped up when using Thunderbird (1.0.7 I believe) is that I keep getting:

    Code:
Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the number of the connections to this server. If so, use the Advanced IMAP Server settings dialog to reduce the number of cached connections.
The number of cached connections allowed is 5. I'm using two individual IMAP accounts and check them every few minutes both manually and automatically. I don't recall seeing this problem with the old UWimap server - only recently after converting to Courier. I have had a look at the settings under

    /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/imapd

The maximum number of allowed connections from the same IP is set to 30. Thus I'm a little confused as to what's going on between Thunderbird and Courier. I should mention that I'm also using SSL with the IMAP connection too.

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Martyn

Did you restart courier after increasing the default connection value of 4 to what you have set, 30?

The 30 connection limit is the default set by Courier IMAP. I did try increasing and decreasing Thunderbird's connection cache but it's made no difference.

Right you are - looks like cPanel increased the default from 4 to 30 themselves with later releases of the courier package.

Actually for anyone else hitting this problem again, it looks like in cPanel 11 it is back to 4. So if any of your users report this problem, make sure you edit /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc/imapd and change the value of MAXPERIP= to the value that you desire then run /scripts/restartsrv_courier as previously suggested.
