Intermittent email problems, LHLO not supported?

I'm getting these kinds of errors:

does anyone know why? It's probably related to the latest stable upgrade of WHM, right? What does the error mean?

Hi :

We have same problem only at one server for to much days

The only thing that worked for us, was restart apache ..

But is only a solution for a few hours... The problem remains

Cpanel support told us that the only solutions is wait for Exim 4, but I am not sure . Others servers with Exim 3 worked fine.

By the way. The error is only with mail sended by PHP and mail() function

Any ideas ?

Yup..php mail...and it only started recently...

Its a bug in exim3, there isn't much we can do but go to exim4.

Well it happened with Exim 3 as well, I hoped Exim 4 would put these issues behind us.

It must have something to do with the combination apache, php (mail function) and Exim, cause restarting Apache fixes it (temporarily)

we were told to upgrade to cPanel 7.0 that would solve our problems. We have yet to do so waiting for it to become a "stable" release.

Well, the Exim mailing list has nothing about it, and there is nothing on the PHP.net bugs list ... so I have to assume that it's a CPanel issue.

ok so we went to exim 4 nothing same problem. Yahoo aol hotmail all unroutable domains and bounces every server generated email back to us.

This problem never started happening here until exim 4 was installed. I went back to exim 3 and all is fine now.

restarting apache did not solve the problem we had, however, we did recompile with curl and curl ssl and for some reason it works right again, though once a day we have to redo that and I have idea why.
