It is a script exahusting resources. This script do not exit/shutdown when processing a request is completed.

nah its a distributed Denail of Service attack, we are experienceing it too.. installing mod_security
rejects the requests, but the connections are still made, so the MaxClients limit is still exceeded...
and hell yes its annoying...
Thats DOS attack. It might be on one of your sites. See if you trace it. You can also get this sorted using a piece of hardware called cisco guard temporarily specially if you have your server at theplanet/servermatrix . I am not sure if other DCs provide cisco guards.
