Default Issues with cpanel VPS running out of memory/crashing

Hi guys, I run cPanel in a VPS with 1.5GB of memory and 1.5GB of swap. I only have 24 customers on this machine and the issue only started happening lately. Basically the machine starts throwing kernel messages that indicate the machine is out of memory and all my apps crash. I can't login to the machine from the console or anything until I force reboot it. It says my swap space is filled too. How do I find out what is taking all of my memory or causing this issue?

    Hello

You can check the "Daily Process Log" to see if any processes are using excessive amounts of memory:

"WHM >> Server Status >> Daily Process Log"

Beyond that, you may find it helpful to contact your VPS provider to see if they can check for any problems on the VPS hardware node itself related to the memory usage of your VPS.

    Thank you.

Yesterday the VPS crashed a few times, so I looked at logs from yesterday. The highest number in mem column is only 34.59%, and a couple others have 6%'s and one 9%. So I'm not sure what else I should be looking at since these numbers seem low. Any other suggestions?

These numbers would not be low, especially 34.59% for memory usage.

    Could you elaborate on that?

Tristan is stating that 34.59% memory usage for a process would not be considered low. You should look into that process to see if it continues to use that much memory.

Also, I suggest contacting your VPS hosting provider to have them check if there are any issues with memory usage on the node itself. High memory usage would not typically result in your VPS failing to respond, so it's possible the issue is on the VPS node.

    Thank you.
