Default It's official: Interchange is not suitable for running with CPANEL unless...

Article on the official Interchange website:

    http://www.icdevgroup.org/i/dev/cpanel.html?id=cagpFY6b

    Excerpt from the above:

    Interchange and CPANEL

If your hosting provider runs Interchange under CPANEL and then says "we don't support it", then guess what -- we don't either. Not when run with CPANEL.

Interchange is not suitable for running with CPANEL unless the hosting provider has expertise and makes it available to you. And they almost never do.

Please don't come here with your sob stories about CPANEL and Interchange -- we warned you.

On another note, I was a complete newbie with Interchange, I enabled it in CPanel, and within 30 minutes I created a store and set it up and it worked fine ...

It seems to work fine for CPanel, even for those who aren't Interchange experts...

it just says that you need to have 1/2 a brain to get it running but a bunch of people that run cPanel only have 1/5.

Well, I have a full brain, I just hadn't used Interchange before, and as soon as I tried it it ran.

Yes, many people (as I originally did) assume that CPanel is a simple install-and-you're-done, auto-administration, easy-as-1-2-3, no-manual-work, don't-need-to-know-linux software solution, but you can do so much more with it and get so much better results if you put in the extra work.

CPanel is so much better than all the other solutions, though, it's in a whole other ballpark.

I think since installing CPanel I know at least 9 or 10 times as much abotu Linux and administration than before I attempted to administer CPanel.

i wasnt bagging on you guy. you got it working in 30 minutes, remember?

that first dood's post made it seem like a huge hassle to get it working.

i read the posted link, and the install seems like a really straight forward process.

To be honest we have only had 1 customer ever actually use Interchange. The rest opted for osCommerce instead or their own cart they installed. We disabled Interchange due to this as we were tired of the error messages.

I think we're going to disable it as well ... the errors are annoying when restartign CPanel and such, and nobody uses it...
