    Default language file upload problems

Ok guys, our uploader will not work using whm to upload a new language file.
Each time we try an upload using the upload gui in whm it makes the name of the file the path from where it came from. We use the browse to find the file, but after we find it and hit upload it creates the file and names it E:\homepage\streamline hosting\cpanel\themes\english

We cannot figure out this issue. Any ideas on where to start to look on why it is not just taking the file name.
    Versions: WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-R82
    RedHat Enterprise 3 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

Our cpanel is dead right now with directive errors due to no english file available.

    Thanks

The first thing you should do is to upgrade cPanel, then see if the problem persists, if it does, then log a ticket through your cPanel license provider with cPanel:

    /scripts/upcp --force

This type reply is unacceptable for many reasons.
First- is that this question has been asked more than a dozen times in this forum and not a single answer has been given. No-one claims it as a bug, so updating should not be an issue. The only answer givin each time is either nothing at all or purchase another panel from another company.

Second- paying several thousand dollars for a piece of software that is poorly supported in forumns is a fairly rotten scam. Answers to problems come from others who are not from cpanel looking for business to their sites.
Cpanel is a widely used panel, therefore providing them with much income, but has such skimpy information on the net availble to it's users. Tech support is ok to use, but the fix issues should be readily available in forums or faqs for everyone who uses it to get quick answers without having to go to the shop to get your reciepts and info to file a 2 day response from them. I am remote with the office 30 miles away. Not likely I'll get there anytime soon.

Since many are having this problem it is pretty much a software issue regardless if it works on tech supports machine or not. It is obviously a compatability issue with something installed on many other servers. And since all tech supports response is to the issue is that it works ok here on our machine shows lack of concern for their product or customers.

So lets put out some real information about what is causing this problem on many machines instead of a global, upgrade your system. Upgrades come after you verify that it is a bug in the software. That has not been proven yet. And since ours has worked flawlessly till this time and all we did was upload a file you would think the file is the problem. But alas it appears the software is the problem since it takes the path names as a name instead of the file. Upgrading will always fix an issue cause it overwrites all the files with new ones. But like history, if we didn't know what caused the first problem are we doomed to repeat it?

Then you've misunderstood what these forums are.

They are not official cPanel support forums. If you want support from cPanel then you should log a ticket through your cPanel license provider or with cPanel if you get your license directly.

cPanel themselves are most likely to tell you to do the exact same thing. You will have to be on the latest release if you're experiencing a bug for blatantly obvious reasons.

That is what I'm saying here. The tickets sent to support just say they cannot duplicate the problem on their system, so just do an update. This is not a real fix. We are fixing something no-one knows what the problem is by just overwriting the file system with new ones. Wouldn't it be wise to first identify the issue before blowing off global file replacements. And if it is an issue as so mnay have stated put it in the faqs for others to see pointing to what the problem is.

You just said this is not an official cpanel forumn, Why is it on cpanels site? If this is hosted on another site not connected with cpanel then you need to change the title and remove the link from cpanels support pages.

Now, we did do the update just now. It obviously did fix the problem by replacing all the files. The new version has many more features in it finally. But it still bothers us that this issue was raised so many time and cpanel would never claim it as a bug. What guidlines are they looking for before claiming something as a bug? Apparently having 20 different server issues is not enough of a problem to call something a bug. But it is nice to see they finally put the delete a language file link in.

This is why one of the first rules of netiquette is to read a forum and understand what it is for before posting

The purpose of the forum for server admins to help each other out if they so wish to do so. cPanel provide the forum simply for that purpose and do not come here to provide support. They do sometimes happen by and offer advise, but for support the path is clear and is as I have already mentioned to you.

If you are not willing to upgrade, which is the most obvious thing to do, then you will simply have to live with the problem since cPanel never ever "backport" or otherwise fixes. If do upgrade then you can have cPanel login to your server to troubleshoot the problem with your particular configuration.

If you don't like the advise you're given here, that's pretty much tough luck since people are coming here in their own time, for free - including me. That's why the official support options are there for you.
