Default large number of FTP accounts

    Hi all,

one of our clients needs to run large number of FTP accounts on his hosting account (possibly hundreds). Is there any risk in enabling him to create such number of FTP users? Does it increase load on server or can it harm anything?

    Thanks!

    Additional Information:

Client wants to use this for about 200 hundred people uploading their Word/Excel files for backup ocassionally. Some might do it every day, some once a week, it is up to their discretion.
The server is Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM and has about 100 accounts on it at the moment (the number will grow).

If anyone is running a large number of FTP users on the same hosting account, please share your experience.

    Thanks.

    Dear steele,

Surely the server load will be increased. When the domain holders are less in number then there won't be any problem. But there are chances, when multiple services like web, mail, database run in the same server. so it is better to avoid 100's of ftp users when the server runs all the services on its own.

    Regards,
