cPanel and WHM currently does not support lighttpd. However, if you would like to see support for lighttpd, you are more than welcome to submit a feature request to our feature request website:

cPanel/WHM cannot output configuration files appropriate for lighttpd. If you do disable apache in favor of lighttpd, you will have to make all webserver configuration changes manually. If you do wish to make all changes manually, there should be no compatibility problem simply because lighttpd and cPanel/WHM are running on the same server - cPanel/WHM simply cannot manage lighttpd configuration.

That would not change the fact that you cannot administer lighttpd from cPanel and WHM and you would need to administer lighttpd manually.

If you need lighttpd for a limited number of request-intensive hosts serving primarily static content, your best option is to install lighttpd and bind it to an IP on which httpd has been configured not to run. You will need to administer lighttpd manually. Using lighttpd to serve static files can greatly reduce load on your server.
