Limiting auto-whitelist disk usage (AWL) in SpamAssassin

Are there ways to limit the growth of the AWL /usr/.spamassassin/auto-whitelist file in SA?

Is there a preset maximum size or will it grow to fill all available disk space? (As it did on one of my accounts!)

I have very limited control over SpamAssassin and spamd. I must submit such requests to my host. I can do some controls in the /usr/.spamassassin/user_prefs SA configuration file.

This mailing list post mentions this script to trim the auto-whitelist by removing one-time only email addresses. I haven't tried it, but it may be worth a look. Another reply mentions automatic expiration is a planned feature.

Thank you. Those are all I had previously found too. I was hoping I had missed something and that there was a way to limit the growth of the AWL database. It would be useful. AWL shouldn't be allowed to grow and take over a user's storage thus potentially disabling their web site or costing them extra storage fees. Perhaps this will be included in the auto-expire.

Can someone tell me what command to run and what directory the script needs to be run from to get it to work? This is what I got when I used it:

"use" not allowed in expression at trim_whitelist.pl line 7, at end of line
syntax error at trim_whitelist.pl line 7, near "use strict"
BEGIN not safe after errors--compilation aborted at trim_whitelist.pl line 8.
