    Default Lingerd

It looks like it would be trivial to add to buildapache.sea and would add a lot of value to cpanel users.

Here's an article about it at Newsforge:

    Nick, what do you think?

More importantely, lingerd can only do an effective job if HTTP Keep-Alives are turned off; since keep-alives are useful for images, the recommended lingerd setup is to have an Apache/mod_whatever/lingerd server for the dynamic pages, and a plain Apache (or thttpd or boa) for the images.

I don't see that as a good thing (tm)

Perhaps you misread the TUNING file, only recommends that if an image server is an option, which for many it isn't. I know for a fact Livejournal doesn't use a seperate image server.

Could it really hurt anything? (well, maybe)

If you want to put a package together I'll be happy to beta test it and report any speedups, or lack thereof.

I posted the same thing recently, having had not seen it before in this thread. I got a similar response. I would like to point out that while this wouldn't be good for everyone, for a lot of people with mainly spitting out PHP or PERL pages ( like the text archive of my site ), this would be a great asset. I don't mind if it's an unsupported feature, just would like to be able to do it ^.^
