LogWatch - "agetty" and "respawning too fast" errors

Hello,

With logWatch daily mail I am getting also hundreds and hundreds of "**Unmatched Entries**" like this one:

Id "ag" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

and like this one too:

agetty[6226]: ttyS0: ioctl: Input/output error


Someone heared something about this?

Do you think there is no option to resolve it?

I think it needs tp play with inittab, not sure how exactly...

It most likely is an issue with inittab, if you can posts yours we can see if the problems is apparent.

As I said before, post your inittab file.

Looks like an issue with the serial config for ttys0

Do you have an ipmi card or serial console on the server?

You would need to correct inittab as chirpy mentioned, if you need it, else find the ttys0 line in /etc/inittab and comment it out.

# kill -HUP 1

Should reload inittab after making the change.
