    Default Mail Statistics

Can anyone tell me how to decifer the mail statistics, I am having clients tell me that there mail is being bounced and when I send it, it does not seem to bounce. Also, people are telling me of strange emails to and from themselves. I have not all of the info in the mail stats as this post would be a mile long if I did..........

    Thanks in advance

I dont bother much with those stats either. I use them basically for the number of emails sent by the user or domain, or delivered to the user or domain. But if you want specific about the email, you'll have to scan the email log itself.

Login as root via SSH. Then look at the message log. If your using exim, its

    # less /var/log/exim_maillog

Once running that command, you can search for a specific email address by typing

    /emailaddress@youwanttosearchfor.com

So you first type /, at the bottom of the screen you will see the / you typed. When you type the email address, it will search for all occurances and highlight them. To continue searching, type / then enter. If you do not put anything in, it will search using the last search item.

In this log, you will be able to see any bounce messages.
