    Default Mailman error, Permission denied

My linux box mailman return this error when a user want to send a email to the mailing list.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    pipe to |/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/mail/mailman post list_mydomain.com
    generated by list@mydomain.com
    local delivery failed

The following text was generated during the delivery attempt:

    ------ pipe to |/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/mail/mailman post list_mydomain.com
    generated by list@mydomain.com ------

    How can I fix that?

Default RE: Mailman error, Permission denied

    Dear kawo,

This seems to be more related to httpd.conf and some permission issues. Please refer to the following threads

Just curious MickeyMouse, could you please explain to everyone how there is any relationship at all between mailman and httpd.conf?

I would really like for you to enlighten us all with your knowledge on how you arrived at this.

Techs for my server solved it

I don't know exactly what they did but the techs for my server said there was an incorrect setting in httpd.conf, permissions problems and some missing mailman files.

    ---

Probably what mickeymouse was referring to, although I don't think they know the specifics. Sounds like the above had a combination of errors.

Considering mailman is on the cpanel side and not public side then httpd.conf should have absolutly nothing to do with it. If it does then there are some serious security issues to deal with.

The last time a saw a mailman issue is because of a corrupt binary in /usr/local/cpanel/bin it was corrected by mv bin to bin2 and running upcp to have it recreated. Voila! mailman issue gone. But the symptoms where a little different.

I am wondering the user to run the mailman scripts got error.
As I have checked with another cpanel box, the setting of the permission for those files are the same.

It seems that the scripts for mailman in posting to list is not using mailman as user. But I don't know how to check that and fix that.

    run this command:

    /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/mailman/bin/check_perms -f

That will fix your permissions automatically.
