Default Mailman problem: Not allowed to post ...

I have a problem where I get the email returned with the following message:

You are not allowed to post to this mailing list, and your message has
been automatically rejected. If you think that your messages are
being rejected in error, contact the mailing list owner at
    Mailman-owner@hostingcompany.com

It usually comes in pack of three, the real email actually comes few minutes later but I am worried why this bounce-mail is being sent by the hosting server.

Yes, I have subscribed to the group and a few other members have the same problem. When I reply to one of the messages it works OK, but when posting new - this happens.

Hosted on RedHat 8 server and cPanel

    Any clues ?

    Thanks, Mike

I'm seeing these bounce messages on my server too, and I found a clue within the headers of the bounce message:
    List-Id: Mailman site list <mailman.my.servername.com>

So, the real question is, why is Mailman trying to post the message to BOTH the intended list AND ALSO to the "Mailman site list"? My exim_mainlog shows no record of anything going to mailman@my.servername.com, so I think Mailman is doing this internally.

Among other things, it shows mailman: /dev/null
And yet, if I send mail to mailman@my.servername.com, it is parsed by Mailman and I get back TWO messages saying "You are not allowed to post ..."

Confirmed as an issue here too (as well as another server admin). Have no further information from client than the thread poster has already shown.

    *edit* Ticket opened.

I just had this pop up with one client. Is there a fix yet?

This problem went away for me. I can't remember now if I fixed it, or maybe it just fixed itself when I ran an upcp. If I can remember any details, I'll let you know.

    Hello,

Check with the filter options under privacy options after entering in
to the admin page. You may have adjusted the filters so that only the admin is
    allowed to post.

That's not the issue. We see this problem for many customers on all of our servers. And the message happens even when the admin is the poster. Strange thing is the post goes through as well, so it says deny, but the list gets the message anyway.

We think dolphyn might be on to something. That seems to make more sense based on what we see as well.

Yes, same here. Post goes through, but the user gets that message anyway. Got several users who are very upset about this.

Anyone have a ticket in for this?

    Thanks,
    Russ
