    Default Mailscanner from layer1

    Hello,
I've installed mailscanner+clamAV from layer1, it seems to be scanning mail (headers are being applied and virus' being removed) but it dosen't seem to be installed as a service (service MailScanner restart dosen't work), how do you restart it so that changes you make in MailScanner.conf take effect?
Also, are the calmAV virus definitions updated automatically? if they are, how often?

The RESTART does not work in the layer1 version. To restart, you have to kill the process and restart:
    > killall -TERM MailScanner
    > /usr/mailscanner/bin/check_mailscanner

Yes, the virus defination is automatically updated. You can see the log at:
    > pico /var/log/clam-update.log

Thanks SuperBaby. Do you know how to uninstall it (in case there was ever a need for it)?

    Default worked for me...

Worked for me... only problem... I dont understand how to upgrade mail scanner...

If anyone wants to take the time to explain upgrading it to me... it would help... the instructions I have found have stuff like mailscanner.conf.net and stuff like that... and I dont have mailscanner.conf.new or .old

nor are there any directories with those names... I may sound dumb... but i'm new at this linux thing

    Thanks
